PVT Billy Jack McClure, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Marble, North Carolina.

PVT Billy Jack McClure was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, PVT McClure served our country until February 20th, 1969 in Kien Hoa, South Vietnam. He was 35 years old and was not married. It was reported that Billie died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. Billie was born on November 12th, 1933 in Marble, North Carolina. PVT McClure is on panel 32W, line 066 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 14 years.

I served with the 9th Infantry Division with the 2nd/39th Infantry in Vietnam part of the time that PVT McClure was there. He is a real and true American Hero. May God continue to bless his family and friends. May his remembrance live on forever. Danny R. McCready.

He is the Son of Mr William McClure and Mrs Carrie K Roberts McClure of Clay County.

He served with Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, "Old Reliables", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Silver Star Medal for Bravery, The Bronze Star Medal for Valor, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, Army Jump Wings Insignia, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal(s) and The Good Conduct Medal(s).
