Sp4 Lemmie Dee Lundsford, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Timberlake, NC.

Specialist Four Lemmie Dee Lunsford was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, SP4 Lunsford served our country until February 14th, 1968 in Phong Dinh, South Vietnam. He was 25 years old and was not married. It was reported that Lemmie died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. Lemmie was born on October 27th, 1942 in Timberlake, North Carolina. SP4 Lunsford is on panel 39E, line 040 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.

He is the Father of Miss Myra L Lunsford, c/o Guardian, 1721 Shawnee, Durham, NC. Is the ex-husband of Mrs Brenda Lunsford.

He served with Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, "Old Reliables", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Army Commendation Medal, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
