PFC Kuss served with  C Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry, 196th Infantry Brigade.  He was killed in action ndear Hiep Duc Valley, southwest of Que Son.

He was interred in St Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Strasburg, Emmons County, North Dakota.
