Sergeant Jose Abellanoza enlisted in the 45th Infantry Regiment, Philippine Scouts. on 3 September 1941. He served as a machine gunner.

He was listed as having died at Camp 504  (Camp O'Donnel, Luzon, Philippines) while being held as a POW by Japanese Forces. His remains were listed as unrecoverable.
