Private First Class James Alexander served with Company L, 3rd battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment in the P.I. . He had enlisted on 21 February 1941.

He was Killed in Action on January 22, 1942, near the Abucay Hacienda, during the Battle of the Phillipines.
