PSG IRELAND & I SERVED TOGETHER IN 11THAA TOGETHER WHICH BECAME THE 1ST CALVARY DIVISION IN 1965.I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I RECEIVED WORD OF HIS DEATH WITH THE 7TH CAV IN IRA-DRANG VALLEY

LEROY WAS A GREAT SOLDIER AND I HAVE MISSED HIM ALMOST 50YEARS. RIP MY BROTHER

Leroy was a career NCO who died a Soldiers Death....leading his men and fighting till the end.

As a professional soldier he was thus the backbone of America

God Bless You Leroy

And All those who died with you on that day

Sergeant LeRoy Ireland died in the battle of the Ia Drang Valley. That battle is depicted in the movie "We were Soldiers".
