Last Known Activity
SP4 Hunter was assigned to C Troop, 16th Cavalry, 164th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade with a tour beginning in March 1972. In April, he had been transferred from F Company (Rifle Security), 50th Infantry at Da Nang. Prior to that, he had been a cook serving with 585th Transportation Company (Medium Truck)

He was killed in the crash of a CH-47C (tail number 69-17119) that killed the crew of 5 and 17 Army passengers. Brought down by an SA-7 missile. near My Tho, while en route from Saigon to Con Tho.

He was interred in Rosemarie Cemetery, Opelika, Lee County,, Alabama.
