Last Known Activity
Capt. Don Hanning had previously served in Vietnam in 1968-1969. He entered the Army on 11 April 1967, and attended Army OCS.

On his 2nd tour, he served with the  60th Assault Helicopter Company, 17th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade.

On 3 September 1972, he was the pilot of an AH-1G (tail number 67-15801)," Gunrunner 36" on a medevac escort mission, assisting the 247th Medical Detachment.  He entered a cloud bank alongside another "Cobra, and crashed after going IMC, at Dalat, RVN.

He was interred in Saint Patricks Cemetery, Carleton, Monroe County, Michigan. He left a wife, Barbara, at his passing.
