Sgt. Hambrick served with A Company, 1st Battalion,, 12th Cavalry 1st Calvalry Division with a tour beginning on 16 August 1965.

He was killed in An Khe, Binh Dinh Province by riflefire, during Operation Shiny Bayonet which took place 10-14 October 1965.

He was interred in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, Plot Section 28.
