Last Known Activity
PV2 Griffey was killed by a sniper at Di An, prior to being assigned further to a unit within the 1ID. There was a small square concrete memorial pillar with a plaque that was placed at Di An to mark the spot where he was shot, and this was in the center of the replacement depot area for new arrivals to 1ID. He had only been in Vietnam for a few days when he was killed.
