Last Known Activity
Lt. Fitzsimmons initally enlisted on 5 September 1958.

Prior to service in Vietnam, he had been an Instructor Sergeant with the SFTG (Special Forces Training Group in Fort Bragg, North Carolina). He then had attended OCS to receive his commission.

1st Lt. Larry Fitzsimmons served with D Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division in Binh Duong Province, RVN.  His tour began on 4 December 1967. 

He was killed in action in Binh Duong Province, northwest of Saigon along with SP4 Theodore L. Zawisza.

He left a wife, Gundy, and two sons at his passing.

He was interred in Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Harris County, Texas, Plot C, 527. 

Silver Star, Bronze Star (V) with OLC, (Merit) and PH are listed on his grave marker.
   
Comments/Citation
Note:  (to be verified)
He went to OCS, reentering on active reserve status on 10 December 1966.  Very likely received his 2nd Lt. Commission at OCS, possibly at Fort Benning, Georgia.  He did go through Ranger Training.
