Ground Casualty

FSB South I, two miles from the Cambodian border in Tay Ninh Province, RVN, was a specially-designed fire support base housing twenty-four 155mm artillery tubes to provide support for nearby Allied operations into Cambodia. The base was occupied by elements of the 11th Armored Cavalry. On the night of May 3-4, 1970, FSB South I was assaulted by a hostile force. Three troopers were killed in the attack. They included SGT Ray F. Evans, PFC Leon Garnett Jr., and SP4 Ernest R. Lasher Jr. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
