Last Known Activity
PFC John Duarte was a communications center specialist attached to the 232nd Signal Company. (Note: MOS 72B20: Communications Center Specialist.)

On 20 January 1963, PFC Duarte died at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in Gia Dinh Province, RVN

He was survived by his parents, Jose and Jesusa Duarte, in San Antonio.

Note:  His unit was one of the earliest in Vietnam, the 39th Signal Battalion,  The 232nd Signal Company was deployed to Saigon and the Mekong area to provide communications support to all forces in those areas.  See: http://www.mervnorton.com/articles/Vietnam%20Studies.pdf
