Captain Decker, was a good man, whose only fault, was that he cared, to much for the rest of us. He died, trying to save one of our men, who had been captured by the NVA. I think about him, every day and will keep him, in my prayers always.

Thank you
My husband - James David Miller (J.D. or Dave) just called from the Wall to locate Capt. Decker's name, panel and line - which would link him to other fallen comrades from 67-68. He has spoken often and with feeling about Capt. Decker's quiet leadership and last walk into enemy fire. Mrs. Decker and son - thank you. He ensured my freedom and contributed to my David coming home. There were many a hero in the War - and your David was one of them

Captain Decker was P.M.S. at Christobal High school in Panama (1966-1967) while I was enrolled in the R.O.T.C. program.and he was a major influence on my life and the lives of many other young men. He was a fine officer and soldier and respected by the community. And though I don't know the circumstances of his death, I am sure that it was in valor and with honor while performing his duties as a soldier. May his memory endure.

Capt.Decker was an inspiration to the ROTC Corp at Cristobal High School.I was in the program from 66 67 to 68.Capt Decker was a Special Forces officer assigned to the PMS position at Cristobal,an unusual assingment. He was easy going and friendly. My Dad and I bought a Honda S 90 from him.I will always remember that day.We met his wife and kids, they lived in France Field I believe. We read a notice of his death on the bulletin board outside the ROTC office in the fall of 68.It said he had been killed by a sniper. It is good to hear from someone that seved with him and could relate the story of his death.Thank you.
