1st Lt. Mike De Masi died in an accident, the collapse of a bunker,  in South Vietnam in July 1970 in at Fire Support Base Katum in Hieu Thien, northern Tay Ninh Province, South Vietnam.  ("Fishhook" region)

He was the eldest of eight children.
