On November 14, 1969 three busloads of students and a few professors from Oakland University (Michigan) went to Washington. We slept on the floor of a church basement. It was bitter cold. In the huge memorial march the next day I carried a candle and wore a placard saying "Johnnie Daniel, California." I put the placard into a casket on the steps of the Capitol. Now 47 years later I still carry his name in my heart, and for some unknown reason I decided to search for him.
Best wishes to his friends and family.

Remembrances from internet postings:
Seems so long since I received the letter from Mom telling me you had been killed. You see I was also there at the same time (1967-1968). I still remember that day so many years ago when we took our bikes and rode to so many gas stations collecting maps of the states. We both said we wanted to go places when we grew up. Well I guess we did. I remember you often and we have had a drink together for 40 years on Memorial Day.
