Pvt. Robert Allen served with Headquarters Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.

He was wounded during the invasion of France.

He died of his wounds near Opheusden, Neder-Betuwe Municipality, Gelderland, Netherlands, an area much fought over by the 101st and the Germans during Operation Market Garden.

He was initially interred in Molenhoek Cemetery near Nijmegan, Holland.
