Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall: Panel 24W, Line 114. CPT Bensberg was included in the cover article of the June 27, 1969 edition of LIFE magazine entitled "The Faces of the American Dead in Vietnam: One Week's Toll."

WE SERVED TOGETHER AT THE 173RD AIRBORNE BRIGADE, BIEN HOA: Bob was a Spec 5 Vietnamese Linguist in May, 1962 and I was a Spec 4 French Linguist when we met and served together with the 404th Radio Research Detachment (part of the Army Security Agency) when we went in with the 173rd in May, 1962. I was later assigned back to the 3rd RRU at Tan Son Nhut air base when they found out they really didn't need French Linguists at Bien Hoa, and that was the last I saw of Bob except for a few times when he would come down with others to the 3rd for one reason or another. I only learned many years later that he had been killed on another tour there. RIP Bob.

MY GOOD FRIEND BOB: Bob and I met in basic, we went to Vietnam together in January 1962. We started in Saigon, the first night he went to work at midnight and I started the next morning at 7. I volunteered him to go North that morning and we went to Da Nang. He never complained. Many memories, we were best friends. We are having a remembrance tonight, saluting you and playing taps. I hope to see you again Bob.
