Last Known Activity
SFC Donald Earl Bear, (KIOWA) - was from the Mountain View area.  He enlisted in the US Army on June 10, 1960 and was a Light Weapons Infantryman Squad Leader.  He served in Fort Carson, CO, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Jackson, SC, and a two-year overseas tour in Germany.  He was on his second "Tour of Duty" in Vietnam when he was killed by small arms fire during Operation Toan Thang II, in  Hua Nghia Province.

His first "Tour of Duty" in Vietnam, was from July, 1965 to May, 1966 with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division. Hew was wounded, in the right shoulder by a sniper while on patrol near the Cambodian Border on May 9, 1966. SFC Bear's second "Tour of Duty" in Vietnam, began on December 3, 1967.  He spent over eithteen months in Vietnam during his two Tours of Duty.

SFC Bear is buried at Fort Sill Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma and will forever be 26 years old (DOB April 21, 1942).
