He is the son of Mr. William L. Ballew of Wilmington, Illinois & Mrs. Lucinda Jane Powell of 819 South West Jefferson Street, Peoria, Illinois, and the husband of Mrs. Shirley Ballew of R.R. #1, Box, 272, Lake City, Tennessee. He enlisted in the Army on September 14, 1967, and did his training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and did his AIT at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He left many brothers and sisters. Awarded the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal.
