STAFF SERGEANT MAX LLOYD STEMPLE ENTERED THE SERVICE ON 3 JULY 1942 AT FORT THOMAS, KENTUCKY. S/SGT STEMPLE WAS ASSIGNED TO ARMY COUNTER INTELLIGENCE TRAINING AT FORT HAUCHUCA, ARIZONA. AFTER COMPLETING TRAINING STEMPLE WAS ASSIGNED AS A COUNTER INTELLIGENCE NCO WITH THE 101ST COUNTER INTELLIGENCE CORP DETACHMENT, 101ST AIRBORNE DIVISION AND WAS KILLED IN ACTION IN NORMANDY, FRANCE ON D-DAY.
