U.S. Army 1LT Albert Frank Ammann, 23rd Inf Div, was an observer along with CPT Wayne Allen McConkey, pilot, 21st Avn Co, when their O-1 BIRDDOG aircraft was shot down by hostile enemy fire east of Tra Bong.
