SERGEANT GERALD BODKIN WAS BORN ON 7 MAY 1918 IN JENNINGSTON, WEST VIRGINIA. PRIOR TO THE WAR HE WAS EMPLOYED AS A FULLER AT THE PARSONS WOOLEN MILL. DURING HIS SERVICE HE ATTNEDED AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SCHOOL AT AMARILLO, TEXAS; B-17 MECHANIC SCHOOL AT BURBANK, CALIFORNIA; AND AERIAL GUNNERY SCHOOL AT LAS VEGAS, NEVADA. HE ALSO SERVED WITH HEADQUARTERS, 328TH AAF BASE UNIT AT GULFPORT AIRFIELD, IN MISSISSIPPI. SGT BODKIN WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED ON 4 DECEMBER 1945 AT ANDREWS FIELD, WASHINGTON D.C. GERALD BODKIN PASSED AWAY IN FEBRUARY 1984 IN PARSONS, WEST VIRGINIA.
