Hamilton, of Greenwood, Miss., graduated from flight training on May 28, 1943, at Tuskegee Army Air Field in Alabama. He soon deployed to North Africa with the Purple Heart.

Hamilton died Nov. 21, 1982, and is one of seven Tuskegee Airmen buried at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.

John L. Hamilton was a pilot and one of the famed Tuskegee Airmen. He graduated from flight training at Tuskegee Army Air Field in Alabama, Class 43-E-SE (Single-Engine Fighter) on May 28, 1943 as a 2nd LT. He served as a 1st LT in the U.S. Army during World War II. He entered the service on July 15, 1942 and was discharged on November 18, 1946.
