PFC RALPH BARRETT SON OF WALTER AND LUCY BARRETT OF BERKELEY COUNTY WEST VIRGINIA WAS KILLED IN ACTION IN FRANCE ON 18 JULY 1944.  HE HAD ENLISTED ON 28 NOVEMBER 1942 AT CLARKSBURG, WEST VIRGINIA.

PFC BARRETT SERVED WITH COMPANY "C",  39TH INFANTRY REGIMENT "AAA-BAR NONE", 9TH INFANTRY DIVISION.

IT IS UNCLEAR WHETHER PFC BARRETT HAD BEEN WITH THE UNIT THROUGH TUNISIA AND SICILY OR HAD JOINED THE UNIT IN ENGLAND DURING THE PREPARATIONS OF THE D-DAY INVASION.

PFC BARRETT WAS LAID TO REST AT THE NEEDMORE CEMETERY, MARINSBURG, BERKELEY COUNTY.
