SERGEANT CHARLES F BARB WAS A LOCOMOTIVE FIREMAN (MOST LIKELY FROM THE WESTERN MARYLAND RR) BEFORE ENLISTING ON 11 MARCH 1942.  HE SERVED IN NORTH AFRICA AND ITALY WITH THE 680TH PORT COMPANY, 1ST ENGINEER SPECIAL BRIGADE FROM 9 JUNE 1943 TO 27 OCTOBER 1945.  SGT BARB WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED ON 1 NOVEMBER 1945 AT FORT MEADE MARYLAND. CHARLES BARB PASSED AWAY ON 12 FEBRUARY 1978 AND WAS LAID TO REST AT THE PARSONS CEMETERY IN PARSONS WEST VIRGINIA.
