TECHNICAL SERGEANT WILBUR R. BUCKLEY WAS INDUCTED INTO THE US ARMY AIR FORCE SOON AFTER COMPLETING HIGH SCHOOL ON 12 JANUARY 1943.  AFTER COMPLETING BASIC TRAINING AND RADIO OPERATOR/MECHANIC SCHOOL IN SIOUX FALLS SOUTH DAKOTA HE WAS SENT TO EUROPE WHERE HE SERVED WITH THE 385TH BOMB GROUP AN ELEMENT OF THE 3RD BOMBARDMENT DIVISION FROM 6 APRIL 1944 TO 1 DECEMBER 1944 STATIONED AT GREAT ASHFIELD AIRFIELD, SUFFILK ENGLAND. HE FLEW ON A B-17 NAMED "HEAVENLY BODY" AS RADIO OPERATOR/GUNNER.  ON 12 DECEMBER 1944 T/SGT BUCKLEY ARRIVED BACK IN THE US AND WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED AND SEPARATED FROM SERVICE AT PATTERSON FIELD OHIO.  AFTER THE WAR HE MARRIED MARY GIANNANTONIO AND THEY HAD 5 CHILDREN 4 SONS AND A DAUGHTER.  MR.BUCKLEY PASSED AWAY ON 11 JUNE 1995 AND WAS LAID TO REST AT CEDAR LAWN MEMORIAL PARK IN HAGERSTOWN MARYLAND.
