Cpl. Eliseo C. Vergara served as a field wireman with Battery A, 15th Field Artillery Battalion (105mm), 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea.

He was involved in the combat on 11-13 February near Hoengsong, South Korea when the Chinese/North Koreans overwhelmed American forces. He was among the 208 15th Field Artillery men that were either captured or killed on 13 February 1951.

He is listed as having died as a POW on 31 July 1951.

His body was not recovered and he remains MIA
