Staff Sergeant Brian Cody Prosser, USA



SSG Brian C. Prosser, 28, was a Military Intelligence Sergeant assigned to the Military Intelligence Detachment, 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He was killed in action during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Cody, as he was known to his family and friends, was born in California on July 17, 1973. He graduated from Maricopa High School in California in 1991. Following Basic Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama he completed Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Cody was then assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he served in the 21st MP Company and the 319th Military Intelligence Battalion as a Military Policeman. Upon completion of the Intelligence Analyst Course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, he then served as an Intelligence Analyst at Camp Yong-In, Korea. With his return from Korea, Cody was assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Ft Campbell, Kentucky. While there he served as an Intelligence Sergeant, Senior Intelligence Sergeant and Military Intelligence Detachment Sergeant in 3rd Battalion before being assigned to 2nd Battalion as the Military Intelligence Detachment Sergeant.

During his tenure of military service, Cody participated contingency operations in Somalia, Haiti, Jordan, Kuwait, Kosovo and throughout Southwest Asia.

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, eight Army Achievement Medals, three Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Ribbon, three Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals, two Humanitarian Service Medals, Kosovo Campaign Medal, two NCO Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, United Nations Medal, NATO Medal, Senior Parachutist Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge and numerous foreign jump wings.

Cody is survived by his wife, Shawna and his parents, Brian Prosser and Ingrid Solhaug.
