Captain Henry Blanchard was killed in action near St. Maurice de Cotentin, France.  He and three other men were killed in an ambush near Bricquebec, France while on a road reconnaissance patrol..

He left a young wife, Joan, and young son, Henry, soon to be born in England. That young son would become a doctor.
