Last Known Activity
Flt. Officer Horace McLin enlisted in the Army Air Corps on 8 July 1942 at Chanute Field, Illinois.

He received the MOS of 1026, and the Glider Pilot Wings and served in the ETO during WWII.

He served with the 441st Troop Carrier Group, 50th Troop Carrier Wing, IX Troop Carrier Command, and based out of RAF Langar
(AAF-490), Nottinghamshire, England (near Radcliffe on Trent). His unit arrived in March 1944. His unit may have been the one moved over to RAF Merrysfield-Isle Abbot (AAF-464), Somerset, England (southwest of London, near Chard). Then served in combat operations in the ETO. Moved to France in September 1944. Based at AAF Station Rhine Maine, Germany  (August- September 1946).

Apparently, remained in the service, leaving as a TSgt..

He passed away on 8 February 2006, and was interred in Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Honey Bend, Montgomery County,  Illinois.

Note:

In the Holland Campaign, his aircraft was a WACO CG-4AFO glider with Serial Number 42-77552, flown by Flight Officer Horace McLin. From (squadron not known), 441st Troop Carrier Group, RAF Langar, Nottinghamshire, England.
