2nd Lt Robert Bertsch served with the 27th Materials Squadron, U.S. Army Air Corps at Nichols Field, Manilla.

He was killed while being held as a Prisoner of War (unknown date in 1942) by Japanese Forces at Camp O'Donnel, Luzon, Philippines.  His tour began on 1 August 1941.  Enlisted on 8 January 1941. H

His remains were interred in Mt. Carmel, Hillside, Illnois in 1948
