Uncle "GH" served in the Regular Army from 10 Jan 1949 to 27 Sep 1951 in the 508th Field Artillery Battalion at Camp Hood, TX and fought in Korea with the 403rd Signal Construction Company where he earned 2 Bronze Stars, 1 Purple Heart, and the Korean Service Medal with 3 stars indicating three battlefield engagements.  He left the service as a Technical Corporal and was active in the National Order of Trenchrats (an elite sub-division od the Disabled American Veterans).
