Then SSgt. Kenneth I. Pugh served with 3rd Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment,
4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division based in Fort Hood, Texas, deployed to Iraq.

He died 17 July 2006 of injuries sustained when his M1A2 Abrams tank encountered enemy forces small-arms fire in Baghdad.
