TRI-CITY GI IS KILLED IN VIETNAM Denny A. Batty, 21, a soldier from Kennewick, has been killed in Vietnam. Spec. 4. Batty, son of Mrs. W. G. (Thekla) Batty, Rt. 1, Box 466, Kennewick, is the 10th Tri-City serviceman killed in the war. A former River View and Kennewick graduate, He entered service Nov 5, 1965 and was killed 12 Dec (1967), when his patrol was ambushed by Viet Cong while on night patrol. He died soon after (in an) evacuation hospital. His mother was notified of the death Wednesday. His father, W. G. Batty, lives in California. Batty was in Company A, 2nd Battalion of the 39th Infantry, 9th Division. He went in Kennewick's Bethlehem Lutheran School 1-9, and graduated from high school at Orofino ID, in 1965. Besides his parents, he is survived by two brothers, and a sister, all of Kennewick. Tri-City Herald, Pasco/Kennewick/Richand WA, 15 Dec 1967
