On May 16, 1971 an aircraft from F Troop, 4th Cavalry Regiment, U.S. Army helicopter UH-1H tail number 69-15272, was destroyed on the ground when it came under an enemy rocket attack while undergoing maintenance. Three ground crewmen who were performing the maintenance were killed in the attack: SP4 Phillip C. Blackmond, SP4 Leonard D. Montes, and SP4 Ralph E. Posey.
