A great man, in my life, SGT., Esteves.
I knew this great man, only a short time, as the track commander, in B, Troop, track, #34. I was his driver, for several months, until he wanted, to join a infantry squad, in our B, Troop, in 3/4, Cav.. It was a great shock, to our entire platoon, to not only lose, a great man, like Sgt., Esteves, but 2, weeks, before his death, our former B, Troop, Platoon leader, 1LT., Russell A Steindam, was also killed, in an ambush. I will never, forget, this man and his great smile and outlook, on life which was ended, before his time. May peace, be with you. #34, Driver- Jerry M Brownfield, 1969-1970.

DEAR UNCLE FERNANDO

We never met. My dad is your brother and you are my namesake. Like you and all the males in your family of 15 served in the Army, your nephews as well. Your sacrifice is never forgotten on us, as a disabled army veteran with 3 combat tours we will always be kindred spirits. Your nephew,

SSG Esteves, Fernando B II

I didn't know you, but I have a friend, that served, with you and we were talking, about Vietnam and he told me, about you. I want, to take this time, to thank you, for your service, to this country.
