Casualty Occurrence:  This Soldier died from an undefined/unknown cause in Hua Nghia Province.

POSTED ON 7.5.2014. NEVER FORGET. Alonzo was a foster child and became a neighbor out East of Danvers when he was in grade school. I had a special fondness for Alonzo because I had just been adopted out of an orphanage. So we had some common ground. He had a great sense of humor and I think he used it quickly and wisely to disguise the experience of rejection. We had great fun playing cowboys and Indians, walking the pastures and just talking about our short experiences in life. He was way beyond his young years, having tough experiences and wise to his ways of life. One day, the state removed him from our neighbors and I lost contact with him. I never saw him again and remember reading the paragraph reporting his death from hostile fire. All these years have passed, but I have never forgotten Alonzo. Eternal peace be yours my brother.

POSTED ON 10.27.2009. POSTED BY: STU MARTY. MY FRIEND, THANK YOU!. Alonzo was a good friend. I will always remember him for that, and for his service and sacrifice.

Dave Sarver, [email protected], Friend & Family, 35, Anchor Rd., Springfield, IL., 62707, USA It will soon, be forty-years. Still hard to take. I still think about you, my friend. I remember the time, just before you left for Nam, we were dove hunting by Deklab, Il. and you almost shot my face off with Dad's old double barrel, 20ga.. Still got it and still think about that every time I look at it. It wasn't funny at the time, but I smile when I think fun about it now. Damn wish you were here to try it, again. I still visit the wall, often and still get tears in my eyes. I'm sorry, I still feel our Govt. wasted your life and so many others, in Vietnam and it still makes me so damn mad, I can't talk about it. You will always be missed!! Sep 4, 2007.

POSTED BY: ANONYMOUS, It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped in the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. Throughout our history America has been built on the blood of heroes and Brave Men of Honor like this Soldier. Thank you for your service, bravery, and for the ultimate sacrifice you have made. Thank you for my freedom. Rest well in God's loving embrace, brave soldier. You Sir, are a true American Hero who is remembered by a grateful Veteran. Dec 8, 2008.
