ROBERT SHERMAN4 MONTGOMERY  (ROBERT3, ISAAC2, ISAAC1) was born 12 Jan 1894 in Near Milan, Sullivan County, Missouri1, died of broncho pneumonia 12 Mar 1920 in Fort Sheridan, Il. He was wounded in the right shoulder by a machine gun at the battle of Chateau Thiery, France. Died 12 March 1920; Father, Robert Montgomery, Milan, MO

Other Comments:

There was a lot of interest in the life of Robert Sherman Montgomery from my family. I’ve gathered as much information as I could find on him to included some hometown newspaper clippings, a post card and an excerpt from the New Times article, circa September 1918, about the Battle of Chateau Thierry. I was very surprised, and proud to find that both Great Uncle Sherman and I served in the same combat unit, 4th ID, just ninety years apart. {SFC John Hernandez}
