KIA List
I remember being back in base camp and seeing Jimmy's name on the KIA list.
Good times spent in Summit with Jimmy - Loved Fast Cars ! and had some real sweet ones....A Blue Nova he bought from Dave Feather. Talked with Jimmy at Fort Carson shortly before I was sent to Nam - his unit was waiting on orders. Last time I talked with him...I visit the Wall and visit him and stop in Summit when I came ..Think about him often ....His Dad wanted to get him out to the draft but Jimmy said no.... He want to do his duty... See you again someday and we will go for a ride in your 32 roadster ...(with the bad slicks)

I knew Jimmy from Summit High School, Summit, New Jersey. I also served in Vietnam in the 25th Infantry Division a year later. I have visited the memorial in Summit, New Jersey to those who gave their lives to their country.

Remembrance of Jim II
This is Jim Kitchell. I grew up in Summit. Although 2 1/2 years older than Jim I got to know him thru sports. He was athletic enough that he could compete in softball, baseball, & football with the older guys. He lived right across the street from a ball field & always seemed to be available if someone needed an extra man. I served in the Army from October, 1967 to October, 1969. Upon my return home I was sad to learn of his death. When I think of the Vietnam war I still think about Jim, for some reason

Remembrances of Jim
My name is Ray Beale and it is July 3, 2000. I met Jim during basic training in Fort Carson, Colorado at the end of 1966. We were the same age and grew up in the same area of New Jersey. As 1965 high school grads, we thought we had the world licked. These are some of my remembrances of Jim.
The two of us in a photo taken at Easter, 1967. Two teenagers that had their lives ahead of them.
Trips to the "Fantastic Zoo" in Pueblo, Colorado.
KP. We were always the ones in trouble and always the ones that were pulling extra duty.
His fathers' Cadillac that came visiting to Colorado. Jim looked great behind the wheel.
A three day pass where Jim, Frank Stiner, and I flew from Colorado to Newark airport. I met Jim's father and sister for the first time during that trip. I always regreted that I never contacted the family after I heard he had died. I still think that I will try to find his sister some day to tell her that Jim lives on in my memory. I know she would like that.
The Buck Sargeant stripes sewn on for the trip home in December of 1967 before we all left for overseas.
Jim "throwing a moon" in the barracks and someone placing a hat on the small of his back as this was happening. This was one of the funniest things I ever saw.
That laugh of his.

My intention will be to add to this list from time to time. For now, I will leave with this thought: I purchased a Corvette convertible in the fall of 1992. I had that car for six years, putting only 12,000 miles on it during my tenure. I cherished that car. I babied that car. Every time I got into that car I thought of Jim Scuitier. I thought of what his Corvette must have looked like; what he must have looked like behind the wheel of that car; a wild-eyed young man with everything ahead of him. Then I think of his sacrifice. Somehow, his death and my survival have a relationship. This relationship is best manifested when the top is down and the wind is whistling through my hair, the throaty sound of the muffler is one indication that Jim rides with me always
