Magdalena Dupere
Magdalena Dupere, 86, of Junction City, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Geary Community Hospital on Dec. 28, 2011. Private family services are planned with Penwell-Gabel Johnson Chapel. Memorials may be given to Geary Community Health Care Foundation, P.O. Box 3015, Junction City, KS 66441.
Mrs. Dupere was born to Wilhelm and Rosa (Ekhart) Rott on June 9, 1925 in Pelzburg, Czechoslovakia. She lived in Germany a portion of her life until she met and married Joseph R. Dupere in October of 1957. They moved to the Junction City area in 1964 where she remained until her death. Her husband preceded her in death during a tour in Vietnam.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling.
She is survived by her children Leroy Dupere, Inge Noa and Janett Melendez, all of Junction City, Michael Dupere of Montevideo, Minn. and Gunter Bergman of Kitzingen, Germany; a son-in-law, Michael D. Smith of Junction City; her sister, Elizabeth Epperson (James) of Copperas Cove, Texas, and brother, Hartel Rott (Alena) of Berlin, Germany; five grandchildren: Charles Melendez and wife-to-be Ashley Ridens-Nelson and Kevin Smith all of Junction City, Maria (Maggie) Noa of Manhattan, Morgan Goebel (Andrew) of Ft. Bragg, N.C. and Casey Dupere of Lawrence; three great-grandchildren: Lyra, Bowie and Daimon; her extended family Elias Noa of Junction City, Venerado Melendez Jr. of Bridgeport, Conn.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Hans Rott and Franz Rott, and four sisters: Wilhelmina Rott, Berta Hahn, Anna Butler and Marianna Bender. To leave a special online message for the family, visit: PenwellGabelJunctionCity.com.
