Last Known Activity

SFC Robert Hyatt Westcott, Jr., born January 8, 1935- died April 29, 1969, was a 34 year-old Army veteran. He enlisted in Dec 1952 into the NJ National Guard before continuing his military career into the US Army starting in 1953. He served in combat during the Korean War as well as Vietnam.
SFC Wescott was a platoon sergeant and on his second tour of duty in Vietnam when he was killed on April 29, 1969. He had been assigned to Company A of the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). LZ Wescott was erected in his honor in Vietnam. His name appears on the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC as well as the Philadelphia and New Jersey Vietnam Wall. He has been honored with the Bronze Star and Purple Heart among other awards. He is survived by his daughter Krysteen.
