Chuck and I had been together for about 8 months when He started driving
the jeep for Sgt. Bigland. We were doing a survey when he and Sgt. Bigland
hit a land mine in a jeep about 20 miles west of An Khe on the road to Pleiku.

I was also on that road between An Khe and Pleiku when Charles was killed in action and SGT Pete Bygland was wounded in action. Charles bunked near me when we were at base camp. I remember sharing the home-made antipasto that he received from a relative at home in what we used to refer to as "care packages". I will always remember, with fondness, my friend, Charles Ronzani.
