Captain Francis Girardot attended Fort Sill OCS with class 20A-6.7. 

He was killed while flying in a UH-1H (#68-16196) from A Company, 25 Aviation Battalion  whose rotor hit ground, causing the crash and burn; during a night approach into LZ in bad weather.

Captain Girardot was interred in White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, Troy, Oakland County, Michigan, Plot: section 15754 space 10 block m.
