Last Known Activity
I remember coming in from guard duty.  I had pulled an all nighter at the berm between Support Command and the Town of Cu Chi.  When I came back to the company the next morning I was told that Edwards had been killed.  He, Kramer, and Fisher had died during a mortar attack.  We were all shocked.  That wasn't susposed to have happened.  Most all the incoming mortar rounds we had received in the 25th Admin and HHC area had been duds.  They didn't explode, they just made deep holes in the ground.  We were all sadden at the news.  They had made it to their bunker, but because the bunkers were open top, a round had hit their bunker directly and exploded.  The next day a memorial was held at the Division Memorial Chapel.  Their deaths created a large effort on the part of most members of the company to build covered bunkers. ~ Donald Patrick
I am reminded of John 15:13 - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Specialist Edwards (Jimmy) was a newspaper reporter.  He prepared news columns for the Tropic Lightning News - the 25th Infantry Division Newspaper.  Evidence of his work can be viewed at http://www.25thida.org/TLN/ .
